The Story
The idea for Yes Brother came to me on a run.
I came around a corner and saw a father running hard along the foreshore, drenched in sweat, with his young teenage son biking alongside him. He was showing up—for himself, and for his boy.
As we passed each other, I reached out my hand to acknowledge him. He met it with a low five. In that moment, I said, "Yes brother."
He smiled, and we continued on in opposite directions.
That moment stayed with me.
Yes Brother began as a simple act of recognition—a chance to acknowledge ourselves, and to acknowledge another brother who is setting an example for how we want to live. Not to fix him. Not to advise him. Just to see him, and encourage him to carry on.
